CARPROOF is seeking an experienced and resourceful HR Generalist to lead and support employee relations, performance management, development, full-cycle recruitment and HR administrative functions. Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist will support both the HR Team and the company as a whole as we continue to provide an engaging work environment that fosters cooperation, facilitates career and personal development and attracts and retains talented professionals.

The HR Generalist will assist the HR Manager and HR Director in coordinating programs and tasks. The HR Generalist will support the delivery of human resource services with specific responsibility for advising managers and supervisors in HR practices; providing information to employees regarding policies and procedures; addressing a variety of issues and/or providing general support.

Position Responsibilities

Employee relations and support

  • Act as a point of contact and support for employee inquiries regarding compensation, benefits, recruitment, performance and development and other related matters
  • Investigate concerns and provide advice, assistance and interpretation on policies, performance-related inquiries and employee relations matters
  • Be the expert on CARPROOF’s Performance Counseling Policy and program, and partner closely with managers and employees to address areas of performance improvement

Recruitment, selection and onboarding

  • Perform full-cycle recruitment and selection activities that include preparing and posting role descriptions, screening resumes, calling and scheduling candidates for interviews, partnering with hiring managers throughout the recruitment process and preparing employment documentation
  • Partner with external recruitment agencies as required, to assist in the hiring process for niche and difficult-to-fill positions
  • Maintain the new-hire orientation process that includes updating and communicating to all parties involved as well as coordinating the activities leading up to the new hires’ first day

Administrative functions

  • Collect and process all employee changes into the Human Resources Information System (BambooHR) and maintain employee records to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain various human resources records, filing systems, databases and reporting requirements, and ensure they are accomplished in an efficient and effective manner that ensures confidentiality
  • Administer employee benefit plans, liaise with benefit carriers and brokers and assist employees with various benefit inquiries and enrollments
  • Ad hoc duties as required

Education, skills and experience required:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Generalist capacity
  • Proven experience developing and/or leading performance counselling initiatives and/or performance improvement planning with managers and employees
  • Strong working knowledge of the ESA and relevant case law
  • Experience with full-cycle talent management programs including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations and offboarding best practices
  • Post-secondary degree with an HR specialty
  • CHRP designation is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and manage multiple initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally at all levels of the company
  • Experience working within a knowledge worker or technology-based organization is an asset

Compensation includes base salary commensurate with experience, performance bonuses, health/dental benefits and an optional RRSP matching program.
